“Don’t you wish you could take a single childhood memory and blow it up into a bubble and live inside it forever?”

Sarah Addison Allen, Lost Lake

Journey: Summer, many years ago

Do you know these childhood memories? For me one of those are the summer weeks in Cadzand-Bad, a small city in the Netherlands by the sea. We used to go there when I was a child, spending days at the beach or cycling through the dunes. I loved those weeks. We used to rent a flat and even breakfast felt different there. We walked on the beach and collected sea shells and other stuff. It was pretty perfect. I don't remember the last time going there since that must have been many years ago. My parents went back a couple of years ago but everything had changed and maybe I don't want to go there again. Maybe I just want to stay in my memory bubble of salt and sea and sand everywhere and the sunsets on the beach and the wind in the dunes.

Sluis

Go and cycle to Sluis, a small village near Cadzand-Band. No sea but beautiful little houses and lights at the canal. Spend an evening there!

Der Hafen von Breskens

The harbour of Breskens. Went there by car due to bad weather. Spent some hours at the museum for fishing and fishing industry.
